Have you ever realized how much God watches over us?

I haven't blogged about this because I wanted to be able to dedicate the time and just the right thoughts to this post. Don't worry - nothing bad is coming!

Many of you know, and some don't - that Scott works for UPS. There are hundreds of employees at his hub, and although he has been there for 12 years, he had yet to achieve the job security of full time status.

For the first 9 years, Scott worked part-time, at night. He also worked day jobs to make up for the difference. When Kate was born, I so wanted to stay at home with her. We knew that until he started driving the package cars, that wouldn't be an option. Wouldn't you know that the week she was born, he was called to start cover driving. This meant 40+ hours a week, day work, and I could stay at home.

So, for 3 1/2 years now he has been cover driving (filling in for other drivers). News trickled down that they were taking 3 more cover drivers for full time status. Scott was #4. We had both decided that it would just take a little longer. Then, Scott ran into his manager at the grocery store. He told Scott "Congratulations" - that he had made full time. We had no idea! His manager said he didn't either - he thought they were only going to take 3 people, not 4.

Since he went full-time (guarantee him 40 hrs a week), most of the other cover drivers haven't been working. The economy has affected the volume so that the extra drivers aren't needed. Had he not been promoted, Scott would be working at nights again, and I would be working more at the clinic.

And, to boot, I just got a raise at my job.

Our family is so thankful that God is taking care of us. We try to impress that on our children, too.

My question - how has God recently blessed you?

Way to go Scott!

We are so blessed that I don't think I could narrow it down to just one thing. I think he has recently blessed me with contentment. He has opened my eyes to see how truely lucky we are. God is so good!

I try to remember each day to not take the "small" things for granted and be thankful for all my blessings, big or small. How blessed am I each morning that I can get out of bed, walk and talk and see? Can go anywhere I choose and eat anything I want. Can make my own decisions and take care of myself. Can choose to make it a good day or not. I was paying close attention yesterday to the changing colors on the trees and thought about how we all should pay more attention to the "small" blessings of our every day life. And really enjoy those small blessings. I count my blessings every day and thank God every day for those blessings ... big or small.

So happy for you and Scott that he has FINALLY made it to full-time status. He's certainly worked hard enough and deserves it!!! Congrats on your raise too!

Much love,

Aunt J

That is a great testimony of God's faithfullness to us. Which reminds me of a verse I ran across a week or so ago...

II Timothy 2:11-13
"It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; 12If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
13If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself."

God is good, even when we aren't faithful to him, which leads me to share with you how God has blessed me.
Through our struggles here lately, I had run from God and strayed from him. I had to confess my sins and then tell Todd all that had been going on with me and what was hidden secretly in my thought life.
A few days later, because I had confessed to him... all this other stuff came out from him that I had no idea about. Things he had been hanging on to his entire adult life. But he felt led to share HIS secret thought life because I no longer in his eyes had the moral high ground.
While all that is devestating and horrific, I believe that God used Satan's temptations that we acted on in our life to bring us closer to him.
I have never read my bible as much as I have this last month, and I have never felt so close to God or my husband. Now we share everything. We share every single thought and temptation, even if it was just a flickering thought and we pray for each other's weaknesses and praise God for the victories through out our days.
God is faithful and even when we sin, he can take that compost and use it to grow flowers and make things prettier! =-)
Don't we serve an awesome God? I even thank him for what we have been through, because with out it...we would not be seeking Him or seeking to serve Him like we are right now.
God is so good!

I am so happy for both of you! What great happenings for the Busbys!
We can look back over our entire married life and see God's hand and blessing woven intricately throughout it all. Some of our prayers went unanswered for a long time, some were not answered in the way we wanted, but in retrospect,it couldn't have been better. God can see around the corners of the parade when I can only see the part that is directly in front of me. I have learned to trust Him to lead me. His way is best. He has truly smiled on us and we are humbled by His kindness towards us. I have learned to be content with so much less. I am like JJ, the small stuff is what counts. Breathing in and out everyday, sunrises, sunsets, smiles on my childrens faces, bumblebees, clouds, wind in my hair, trees,...I could go on forever with my little blessings. That is what makes life worth living. Those are the blessings that really count.
Love,
Aunt Laura

I can't begin to number the blessings - I know He loves me, I have seen it so many times. I feel like Rebecca in that I am truly content and at peace with all things. I thank God each day for all He freely gave for me.

Wow, the list would be endless. You asked for the most recent, so ~ it would have to be that I woke up from surgery the same day that it occured! and it was not at all as painful and difficult a recovery as I'd been warned it would be. Our surgeon said the 'mess' he found was far worse than he ever expected, but he was amazed and humbled by how easily he was able to rearrange it all :) Our ministers and elders had come in just prior to surgery and prayed over me and with us. And we've had everyone praying for Dr. Foxhall for a solid month now. We weren't surprised that it all "feel into place". My dad used to say, "Christians are lucky, we're blessed." And Congrats on all the promotions! Johnny was the SE District Super for Maint. at UPS for almost 15 years but walked away from it in '83 due to the stress and travel. He's been with a local paper mill and will retire soon!!

"fell into place" not "feel" argh, I'm tired ;)
Oh, and I can't make the Eastside Grill Nov. 8th. That will be Mistletoe Market in P'ville and Jenny and I are working at the children's boutique that Saturday. I'll catch up with all of you in January, though!!

CONGRATULATIONS! We know how hard he has worked to become full-time, and yes, God is always good. God is good always. One of the hardest lessons I've had to learn is to let go, and trust in Him to direct my life. The scariest - yet truest - blessing is Zane, and how PG, Zane and I have become a family.

Congratulations to all of you. We all know how hard Scott has worked to achieve full time status and yes, I fully believe if we let God "take the wheel" he will take care of us. So many times after your Uncle Ed died God just stepped in and provided what was needed, either financially, emotionally or physically. Congrats to you too for your raise @ work. We are truly blessed. Love to all.

In many ways, we have been blessed. The going HAS been tough since our move to GA, and I keep looking for things to improve. I feel as if we jumped off a cliff without a parachute last January when my husband left NC for a new job in GA. Since then, everything has been a challenge. I am telling myself that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!

Congratulations! UPS is lucky to have Scott on the full-time team. While I am at the other end of a similar career, God has blessed my family and the same market forces that are affecting UPS are changing our workload. Perhaps the work of Christians is to have the faith to SEE God's involvement. Have fun in the mountains!

You know we are so happy for all of you. It couldn't have happened to better people. God never promised us fame or wealth, but he did promise he'd take care of us, and he always does! Much love!!! Leah

Congrats! I stop and think every day that we would not be were we are if we had not been so blessed along the way. We never could have accomplished what we have without God, family, and close friends.

I am giggling now as I opened this up to congratulate you and Scott on your work, but now I'm thinking I need to remind you to slow down and take it easy since my word veri is "relaques." Seriously, I'm so happy for you!
