Frank, our outside cat

I was playing around with my camera. I so need to take a course on how to make it do what I want - not just rely on it to take the pictures I want. These were my favorites! Enjoy!

Baby Will

Look at my precious nephew, Will. Casey had a serious photo shoot today... (well, there were 86 pictures) and I just loved this one! What a sweetie pie!

Another day

This was the week that I would start potty training.
This was the week that you would stop being my baby.
This is the week that you would grow up right before my eyes.
You would never look the same.

But, a cough and cold has curtailed my plans.

Why am I holding on to you so hard?
Could it be that you are possibly my last baby?
Could it be that I never knew that I could love my children so much?

So, for a precious little time longer, you are still my toddler boy.

Filling out forms

Today we had a new client come in with a sick puppy. Here is how they filled out the end of the form:

What food does you pet eat?

Their answer: "Usually a lot more"

Kate is quite funny these days...

Kate has been our silly one lately (although Brooks leaves so much to catch up to). Here are some catch you up facts about her:

  • While I was napping last week, I guess it ran a little too long (OK, so I have been sick!). When I woke up, Kate had 17 pairs of panties on. At the same time. On the same place. She looked like a super hero from Disney.
  • Last night she prayed that today "we would all go to outer space". Hmmm.....
  • She barely calls Brooks by his name anymore. She just calls him "Son" (just like I do)
  • She wants to help do EVERYTHING. So different than Brooks, who just wants to DO IT MYSELF. I find myself at odds with my own clean genes... but it is fun letting her pitch in on some things.
  • There are many mornings that I wake up with her asleep on the floor beside our bed. I have no idea how long she has been there. She still wakes us up at night 4-5 nights a week. No idea why. Sometimes we let her crawl into bed with us.
  • Saturday afternoon she and I took a nap together on the couch. That was the first time since she was a BABY that we've done that. It was my favorite part of the day.

Crawfish Boil

Our Young Families class had their get together for the month at the Hunt's house. We had a great time - but the kids had the best time before hand "playing" with the crayfish. Kate was super brave - I think she was the first one to pick one up. As far as eating was concerned... well, let's just say that we don't eat much spicy Cajun food at the Busby house.

FYI - the mosquitoes were hardly noticeable. Anna Marie sprayed a bug killer on the lawn made by Cutter. It is labeled to control "pests" for 8 weeks! Just hooks up to your water hose, and you can water everything. The mosquitoes are so bad here that I'm going to try it. She said it was $7.00 at Walmart.

We bought 2 crepe myrtles today to plant on either side of the porch, but we were just too tired to plant them! Scott had a long week at work, getting in 4 out of 5 nights after 7:30pm. I am still trying to get over this cold/cough that has plagued me for a week now. I think it is time to start some antibiotics.

We also got the coolest bush called a "Snowball Bush". It has enormous white blooms that resemble hydrangeas. Our neighbor has one and it is just beautiful. Can't wait to see it take off!

L2L, Day 3

Look at Silver. She slept like this for over an hour.

These girls were pretty put out about the bus!

James Russell looking inside the engine.

What an adventure! (Did I mention that Dad drove the bus there!?)

L2L, Day 2

Scott's Bible Bowl team that got 2nd place. We were so proud!

Carson and Jackson after their puppet team got 1st place!

Kate wanted a picture of herself holding a trophy, too!

And, so did Hayes!

Day 1, L2L

These were views from outside our hotel room and from our hotel balcony. Yes, part of me was being nerdy to get some "real" cool photographs.

Yep. I've been sucked into Facebook.

Suddenly, FB has become more of a priority! While I love it, I have to keep reminding myself that this is our family JOURNAL, and FB is not. I need to continue to put my thoughts into this project. But, FB is just so fun! :)

L2L convention was great. The kids were a little better this year than last. A little easier, I should say. Our kids from church did so well. Scott's bible bowl team of 3rd-4th graders got second place! Fantastic! The bus broke down on the way home... :( but everyone there made the best of it. The kids even had an Easter egg hunt on the side of the interstate! Let me tell you, it is no fun to feel "stranded" (even though we all had phones to call). But, seeing so many members from church stop to check, offer rides, offer food - it was heartwarming. We truly love our family at University.

Pictures are coming (or maybe you will see pictures first)... enjoy!

We spent the weekend working on the yard. At least Saturday we did. The pictures are coming when we get finished - so don't hold your breath! HA! Saturday was beautiful, and Sunday was pitiful. But, our new plants got a good rain on Sunday.

Brooks is almost over his cough. Yay! He is adorable when he holds his hand over his mouth and coughs. And, if he forgets, then he will "cough" again, and THEN hold his hand over his mouth.

We are headed to L2L this weekend in Atl. Dad is driving the Space Shuttle up there - and the kids are so excited that Pa is going to drive the bus!

We plan on spending the day outside tomorrow, even though it's going to be RIDICULOUSLY cold (anyone else raising their hands right now?).

Client funnies and family update

I am so glad that Spring is here. The kids are really enjoying playing outside these days. Being stuck inside is no fun! Soon the days will be longer, and we will be outside more. Yay!

Oh - and I found the Golden Girls are on Hallmark, and on We at night. Really, watching them and laughing at them just makes my day!

Scott is on vacation next week. It has been a long time since November!!! (last vacation) Anyways, we want to get some yard work taken care of. Scott couldn't remember when the exact date was, and I didn't have enough time to ask off for myself, so maybe later in the summer we'll go on a trip somewhere. But, getting some yard work will be done will make me happy, too!

Brooks is talking more and more every day. His sentences are coming together. Makes me happy and sad at the same time! I got his teeth rechecked at the dentist yesterday and the chipped tooth on the front is OK. We aren't going to do anything about it for now. I also started him on antibiotics for this cough that is nagging. I tried giving him Claritin yesterday and it seems to help more than the Zyrtec. Maybe we are on the right track.

Kate is changing so much. She doesn't look like a toddler anymore. {sigh} Her manners are so sweet, and she is becoming more caring every day. Her hair is getting so long, and I'm not sure when I'll cut it!

Here are some funny stories from work the last week:
  • I had a client's son, who obviously isn't mentally all there (but he's in the Marines - go figure), introduce himself (because he didn't know me), and a few minutes later came out of the exam room and said, "You are just so HOT, I just have to have your number!"
  • Monday I had a phone call from a distraught client whose dog recently died after getting hit by a car. She was wondering how long her other dog would grieve. She was sobbing the entire time on the phone. I questioned her, asking if SHE were possibly the one that wasn't ready to get another dog. Well, her dog now wasn't acting right. I questioned her if there could be something else wrong with the dog. Her response: "Well, I was hoping that she was WITH CHILD, but since it's been 10 WEEKS, she probably wasn't pregnant" Ugh.
