It's a new year...

Well, I will remember ringing in the New Year of 2009.

Brooks started coughing last Saturday. Well, that cough continued, and by Tuesday night he was barking his head off. So, off to see Dr. S we went, where he confirmed he has RSV.

Granted, we are thankful that he doesn't have to be hospitalized this time (both of our kids have had this as infants, and both had to be hospitalized), we had to spend our New Year's holiday apart. Scott stayed home with Brooks while Kate and I spent New Years with my parents. They were able to visit for a short time yesterday before we all came home.

Now, I know that there are so many things that could be worse. But, in my little world, it sure was stressful to have "my family" in different houses, to have my sick son with my husband (and not myself), to not be together on the New Years. Last night was filled with tears. But, it's amazing what a good night's sleep can do for one's sanity. Today, feeling rejuvenated, I took down all the Christmas decorations and cleaned this morning. It felt good.

We went over to Mom and Dad's tonight and I got to see all my Grandparents - and that was good. That was what I most wanted to do. Brooks is feeling better (as long as he gets his cough medicine).

Here's hoping that the rest of the year doesn't bring as many tears as the first day of 2009!

Poor Brooks! I am so sorry he is sick. I hope he is feeling better now. It's hard to be away from you kids when they aren't feeling well.

Such a bummer Kristi! I hope everyone is well soon. We went though the same thing at Christmas time. I was thinkin' that Heidi wasn't going to get it, then WAM---on the drive home she got that aweful flu and puked all day long on the car ride home. Thankfully the next day was much better. So, next year, all I am going to ask the Lord for is wellness during the holiday season! I don't even think I thought to ask for that one! As for the simplistic side of things, I am with you. Wellness and contentedness is all I ask for in this family! Thanks for your thoughts, I enjoy reading your blog so much!

Oh, that's terrible, Kristi, nothing worse than sick babies. Glad he seems to be feeling better, though.

Oh, bless you, Kristi! Soon spring will be here and all those pesky bugs will be gone ... and we'll be dealing with the real ones through the summer. But we will all be back to good health! I hope Brooks is all better now.
