When I got the Memory Game out yesterday, Kate grabbed the paper inside and said, "Wait a minute, Mama. Let me read the 'corrections'. OK, Mama? Let me read the 'corrections'."

Church pictures... befores...

Posted by Picasa
We went car hunting again this weekend but still have Bullet. We found one we liked, but the salesman wouldn't come off the price enough. So, we still look! I liked it, but it was fine to leave it there. It was good not to be disappointed.

On a funny note: *attention*

Nothing much

I think I have fallen into the rut that everyone else has. No pictures. No really updates.

We have been running our fireplace constantly in the last week. It is drying out my sinuses. As much as I love it, I asked Scott to give it a break - so that my head will get a break. It is still so chilly in this house - I'm thinking of getting an estimate for getting more insulation put into the attic.

I didn't feel all that great yesterday at work. My head is stopped up, again. My body just didn't feel that great. And, wouldn't you know, there was a pitiful little dog that had 2 broken legs - both on the front. Crazy, I know. It broke the first one 2 weeks ago when it jumped out of the owner's arms. Then, it broke the other one falling off the bed. I tried for almost 2 hours to fix it, but I just couldn't. She weighs 6 pounds, and I just didn't have anything that small to work. Very frustrating. Anyways, I didn't get home from work last night until almost 8pm.

But, I feel better today. I plan on getting the kids outside today and detail my car. I just love my car... :) My Bullet, that is!

Prayers needed...

Please add this blog to your list and especially your prayers. Kelly and her husband just had a new baby who is having incredible difficulties breathing and her heart. I felt so covered with prayer when I was in the hospital with Kate, and this couple covets yours!

Thank you, God, for our healthy children.

Bullet is still our main squeeze...

Mom and Dad took our kids up to Nashville to my niece's birthday party this weekend. We wisely thought we would use our time to go car shopping!

After getting up at 6am, we drove up to Atlanta to see some cars that we had found online. I have to say that I was disappointed with them. Maybe the car pictures are just much more impressive than the cars themselves? Anyway, we spent the entire day there, and came home with our Rudy (the truck). :(

But, we learned a lot yesterday! First, we drove other types of cars that we hadn't considered. And, we liked them! Second, we learned about certified used cars, and how much safer and protected we will be as a buyer if we purchased one. Thirdly, we have changed our minds completely on what we are in the market for... (top secret until later... *cheezy grin*).

We have spotted a few in B'ham that we are interested in - thankfully B'ham and not Atlanta! But, we are back to the norm next week. We'll see how it goes bringing kiddos with us!

Kid funnies

  • Kate and I were working on reading last night. She loves to sound out the letters, but is having a little trouble putting them together. We were saying "H A T" and sounded out the letters several times, and I asked her to put the sounds together - what was the word? And she replied, "Squirrel!"

  • Brooks was wanting me to pick him up so he could see inside the washing machine. I asked him, "What do you say?" and he replied, "Yes Ma'am" and I said try again, to which he replied, "Thank you welcome!" and when asked once more, he said, "YES MA'AM!". Never found "please".

I've been tagged...

I've been tagged by Laura...

Go to the 4th folder, pull up the 4th picture and post it, describing it.
I love this picture of my Dad holding Kate. She was around 8 weeks old. I just laugh at the expression that each one is giving the other.
When did she get so big?

Catch up

Guess I am overdue for an update on us... :)

I am thankful that the holidays are finished. I love them while they are here, but I am thrilled when they are gone. I am a creature of habit and very schedule oriented. I was ready to get back into our regular routine.

Brooks has bounced back wonderfully from RSV. Kate, if she had it, was bothered very little. My sore throat from last week turned into a sinus infection. I started antibiotics on Monday and fell oh so much better. Scott managed to steer clear, thankfully.

Things have slowed down at UPS. While they are still busy, Scott has managed to get home a few nights before 7:30. There is still a possibility that he will be working nights some during the months of January and February because of low volume. But, at least this week, the volume was higher than expected. Thankfully.

Work has been so incredibly busy. I have been just worn out when finishing the day. But, it's been great. I am still working 2 days a week, but will work some extra days in February so my boss can go travel some more. Extra money is always nice.

Speaking of extra money, we are looking into buying another car. Notice I didn't say a new car. :) Bullet is really showing it's wear over the last few months, and it's taken us a few months to get used to the idea of having a car payment again. I hate car payments! So, the plan is to get this "new to us" car paid off as soon as we can. It is exciting to be looking, and we are being patient to find just what we want.

I was made the secretary/treasurer for our local veterinary association for the 2009 year. It is a good time for me, since I work part-time. There is a good bit of organizing that needs to be done, and I'm just the obsessive organizer for the job! HA! No kidding, I get a little obsessive about organizing paperwork. Blue and I spent an hour at the bank this morning to get account information updated, and the kids were pretty good, considering.

On an EXTREME side note, my cat Mousey has started sleeping with me when I get a nap. It is my favorite thing about a cat.

I guess that's all for now. You are officially caught up. I'm going to get back into watching our kids play hide-n-go-seek with Scott. I'm not sure which is having more fun!?

For the love of a child...

(I copied this from Nancy. It melted my heart.)

Just for one day, one moment even, if I could just hold her in my arms again.

Just to feel her short legs, ripe with baby fat, wrap around my waist.
To have her soft curly hair brush against my face, as she nuzzles closer to my neck,
and I smell that milky breath that, to this day, I know in my dreams.
To have her pull closer to our hearts, that are merely separated by the clothes we wear,
and to know that she is already learning to love.
I sing and murmur love songs that will lull her into a place known as Sleepy Town,
where best friends are known to have long ears, worn coats and sometimes are missing an eye, or a leg.

Maybe this is our saving grace.

Our memories.

To right, some of these times we were too impatient, too busy, too absent.
Maybe these times of rocking chairs, lullabies, stolen kisses on the eyelids and nuzzle of the neck,
these memories take hold, and we savor them.
And wish, oh how we wish, we could have them once more.

Just. One. More. Time.

Words from Kate

"Mama, open your mouth wide and say AAhhhh... so that I can see your voice"

It's a new year...

Well, I will remember ringing in the New Year of 2009.

Brooks started coughing last Saturday. Well, that cough continued, and by Tuesday night he was barking his head off. So, off to see Dr. S we went, where he confirmed he has RSV.

Granted, we are thankful that he doesn't have to be hospitalized this time (both of our kids have had this as infants, and both had to be hospitalized), we had to spend our New Year's holiday apart. Scott stayed home with Brooks while Kate and I spent New Years with my parents. They were able to visit for a short time yesterday before we all came home.

Now, I know that there are so many things that could be worse. But, in my little world, it sure was stressful to have "my family" in different houses, to have my sick son with my husband (and not myself), to not be together on the New Years. Last night was filled with tears. But, it's amazing what a good night's sleep can do for one's sanity. Today, feeling rejuvenated, I took down all the Christmas decorations and cleaned this morning. It felt good.

We went over to Mom and Dad's tonight and I got to see all my Grandparents - and that was good. That was what I most wanted to do. Brooks is feeling better (as long as he gets his cough medicine).

Here's hoping that the rest of the year doesn't bring as many tears as the first day of 2009!
