I was in my kitchen and the television was on in the den for "background" noise. As I was watching the coverage of the first tower, I watched as the plane hit the second tower. Kenneth called from his office. After hanging up the phone, I grabbed Holland and Solomon, and we went to pick up Jackson from school early. He was in Kindergarten at ACA. All I could think of was having all three of my boys with me. I remember my mom saying she would never forget where she was when Kennedy was shot. For me, I will never forget where I was on 9-11-01.

I was at work, had just gotten a cup of coffee when someone came rushing through the office yelling for someone to turn on the TV. They had heard it on the radio as they were coming in to work. I will forever remember the stunned silence from everyone. The dazed, unbelieving looks and then the hysteria that followed from people who had family, friends or clients who worked in the towers. Our president was in New York and had an appointment later that morning. He is one that shares a story of "how I almost died on that day". It is still sad but Kristi I am with you. President Bush made me feel that all would be OK. He brought this country together like no other person could have done...I believe that with all my heart. May we NEVER have another day like 9/11/01 again in this country.

Sorry I am commenting late...

I was in school at Faulkner. I was heading to class - Theater Appreciation with Sam Wallace. On the way, I saw Amy (Slauson) Newsom and Jan (Ellis) Lowery sitting in the lobby. One of them said "a plane flew into the world trade center!" And they seemed distraught, but I just thought, ok...that's odd. Then I went into class, and Mr. Wallace was being all dramatic about it & it scared me. He cancelled class. I walked back to my apartment & called my dad on the way, because I just didn't know what else to do. It was an odd & scary feeling. I will never forget that day as the news unfolded...

This was the day of my sweet mother-in-law's funeral. Charles woke me up just as the second plane hit the twin towers. All day that was all anyone could talk about. Took away some of the sadness of losing Granny. But then there was a different type of sadness and fear.
